Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu Over Fuel Price Hike

Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, condemned President Bola Tinubu for the recent increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N1,470 per litre. He demanded a detailed account of the revenues and savings from the removal of the fuel subsidy, labeling the price hike as unconscionable and indicative of the Tinubu administration's failure to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians.

In a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticized the government's opaque management of oil revenues and Federation Account deductions. He referred to the June 2025 Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) figures, which showed a gross revenue of N4.232 trillion but only N1.818 trillion was distributed.

Atiku called for a comprehensive reconciliation of Federation Account revenues since 2023, including details on deductions and beneficiaries, and sought explanations for allegations of unofficial crude lifting and other revenue flows.
