Police arraign 52 suspects in Edo State over violent protests in Ekpoma and Ubiaja

In Edo State, 52 suspects were arraigned in court by the police after violent protests in Ekpoma and Ubiaja. The suspects are charged with offenses including robbery, conspiracy, disturbing the peace, and malicious damage.

The presiding judge, Justice William Aziegbemi, ruled lack of jurisdiction and remanded the suspects to Ubiaja Correct Center. Tearful scenes unfolded as families struggled to provide necessities for the accused.

The protests were sparked by the abduction of a family member of the Ejemi Etinbowei family, leading to public outcry and demonstrations.
