Edo Police Arrest 12 Suspected Cultists in Auchi

On May 7, 2023, the Edo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Edo State Security Corps, arrested 12 suspected cultists in the Amaze Grace Estate, Elel community, Uzairu, Auchi, Edo North. The operation was led by CSP Eno Ikoedem, who disclosed that the arrests followed credible intelligence regarding the suspects' plans to launch an attack on a perceived rival group.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 33, include Abiola Anabgaifo (33), Idogo Joshua (28), Oseni Sani (22), Aminu Abubakar (19), Iyamah Precious (29), Usman Raphael (29), Ogen Jude (31), Ibrahim Akeem (27), Tund Bright (20), Jude Edeh (21), Godwin Edeh (19), and Aigbona Clifford (20). Preliminary investigations revealed that seven of the suspects confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity.

The police recovered a grey Mercedes Benz Jeep, registered number GWA 471 DS, allegedly belonging to one Balogun Israel. The suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
