Ondo Police Arrest Five Suspected Cultists in Akungba

On March 27, 2026, the Ondo State Police Command, through its Special Anti-Cultism Squad, arrested five individuals suspected of being cultists during a raid on a clandestine meeting in Akungba Akoko. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence and public alerts regarding suspicious activities in the area.

The arrested suspects, identified as Adesuy Dare, Ayeerun Joshua, Ojo Omol, Adu Dele, and Akeju Idowu, were allegedly engaged in chanting cult-related slogans and conducting activities that raised serious concerns among local residents. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of the Eiye confraternity and are linked to violent crimes and unlawful gatherings that threaten public peace.

The suspects are currently in police custody, and the police are working to uncover a broader network associated with the cult group. Commissioner Adebowale Lawal commended the prompt and professional conduct of the operation, emphasizing the command's zero tolerance stance against cultism.
