Police Arrest 18-Year-Old for Defiling Minor in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command announced the arrest of an 18-year-old boy named Basit Tijani for the alleged defilement of a 17-year-old minor in Ibadan. According to a statement from the police public relations officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the arrest occurred on Friday following a prompt report of the case.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Tijani allegedly lured the victim into a room where unlawful intercourse took place. The police acted swiftly, mobilizing their operatives from the Ilero division to the scene to secure the area and rescue the victim, who was subsequently evacuated to a medical facility for comprehensive medical attention.

The Oyo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combatting sexual and gender-based violence across the state.
