Cameroonian Arrested for Defiling Minor in Akwa Ibom

On March 1, 2026, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested 36-year-old Joseph Mbake, a Cameroonian fisherman residing in Mkpanak village, for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl. The arrest followed a report from the child's mother, who noticed suspicious discharge from her daughter during a bath.

Upon questioning, the child identified Mbake as the perpetrator. The police issued a medical examination form for the child, who received immediate medical attention.

Following credible intelligence, the police expanded their surveillance in the neighborhood, leading to Mbake's arrest. Preliminary investigations revealed that the alleged incident occurred on February 14, 2026.

The police are conducting further investigations in accordance with established procedures.
