Plateau Police Arrest 20-Year-Old for N1.5m PoS Fraud

The Plateau State Police Command arrested 20-year-old Jonathan Sambo Bitru from Bauchi State for allegedly defrauding a Point of Sale (PoS) operator of N1.55 million. The incident occurred at Terminus Market, where the victim, Josephin Morolayo, a salesgirl, was approached by the suspect.

He requested to check his account balance and later asked to withdraw N1.95 million. Morolayo initiated the transaction and handed over the PoS machine, inputting her PIN.

After withdrawing N1,550,000, she was asked to wait for her boss to return, while the suspect fled with the money. Upon her boss's return, Morolayo discovered the fraudulent transaction.

During police interrogation, the suspect confessed to accessing the victim's transaction history and admitted to using the funds to purchase an iPhone 13 Pro and clothing materials. The police condemned the act and urged citizens to be vigilant in financial transactions.
