20-Year-Old POS Scammer Arrested in Jos for Fraud

The Plateau State Police Command arrested 20-year-old Jonathan Sambo Bitru in Jos for allegedly defrauding Point of Sale (POS) operators of a total of 1,550,000 Naira. Bitru reportedly accessed the transaction histories of his victims and tricked them into handing over cash.

Following his arrest, he confessed to the crime, stating that he intended to use the funds to purchase an iPhone 13 Pro and clothing materials. The police have issued a statement urging citizens to remain vigilant during financial transactions and condemned fraudulent activities, assuring the public of their commitment to combat financial crimes.

The police public relations officer, Alfr Alabo, emphasized the importance of caution in financial dealings to prevent such scams.
