Plateau Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers of Applicant

On February 26, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM, a police applicant was kidnapped in Qua'an Pan Local Government Area, Plateau State. The victim was ambushed by hoodlums who stole a Samsung Galaxy A8 phone, a power bank, and a sum of 25,000 Naira before abducting him into the jungle.

Following the incident, the Plateau State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Bassi Ewan, received a complaint and directed the anti-kidnap unit to take immediate action. This resulted in the arrest of Bernard Bassei, 25, from Ogoja, Cross River State, on a subsequent Sunday.

During the operation, several items were recovered from the suspects, including hard drugs, sharp objects, and multiple SIM cards. The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing, with plans to arraign them in court soon.
