Yobe Police Command Arrests 240 Suspects for Various Crimes

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested 240 suspects over various offences, including murder, rape, kidnapping, and armed robbery, in the last three months. Commissioner of Police Usman Jibrin disclosed these details during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Damaturu.

The arrests were made following investigations into 16 murder cases, nine rape cases, one kidnapping case, two extortion cases, five armed robbery cases, and 112 other offences recorded between July and September. Jibrin reported that 198 cases had secured convictions, two resulted in acquittals, and 26 cases were before the courts, with 10 still under investigation.

The command also identified criminal hideouts, leading to the arrest of 171 suspected drug dealers and users, along with the recovery of illicit drugs and dangerous weapons. Additionally, Jibrin mentioned arrests related to financial crimes, including a suspect involved in the alleged fraud and misappropriation of N77 million.
