Yobe Police Arrest Suspect with 19 Stolen Cattle

On July 31, 2026, at approximately 12:30 hours, the Yobe State Police Command intercepted and arrested Umar Sanda, a 28-year-old resident of Lafiya Fulani Settlement in Azare, Bauchi State. He was found in possession of nineteen cattle suspected to be stolen at the outskirts of Dumburi Village, Masaba Ward, Bursari Local Government Area, Yobe State.

This operation was part of the Command's ongoing efforts to combat cattle rustling and related crimes. The police acted on credible intelligence regarding Sanda's activities.

During preliminary interrogation, Sanda claimed the cattle belonged to his brother but failed to provide satisfactory evidence of ownership. Consequently, he was taken into custody, and the cattle were secured.

A comprehensive investigation has been initiated to ascertain the true ownership of the livestock and determine if any cattle rustling or related offenses were committed. CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin reaffirmed the Command's commitment to fighting cattle rustling and urged public cooperation in reporting criminal activities.
