Yobe Police Command Secures 198 Convictions in Crackdown

The Yobe Police Command announced operational achievements, reporting 198 convictions and the arrest of 240 suspects for various criminal offenses between July and September. Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, disclosed that 145 criminal cases were recorded during this period, including 16 murder cases, 9 rape cases, 1 kidnap case, 2 extortion cases, 5 armed robbery cases, and 112 other offenses.

Of these, 198 cases resulted in convictions, while 2 were acquitted. Currently, 26 cases are before the courts, 10 are under investigation, and 4 await legal advice.

The CP emphasized the command's commitment to intelligence-led policing and reported significant successes in tackling narcotics, with 171 suspected vendors and consumers apprehended. Notable incidents included a shootout in Fika and the interception of a suspect from Maiduguri.

Additionally, the command made strides in financial crimes, arresting suspects linked to fraud involving N77 million and extortion of N630,000.
