Police Arrest Graduate for Illegal Arms Factory in Uyo

On March 15, 2026, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested Koabasi Marsodi, a graduate of the University of Uyo, for allegedly running an illegal arms factory in Uyo. The operation was executed following credible intelligence reports that led police to a suspected criminal hideout located on Idem Street off Itu Road.

During the raid, authorities discovered that the facility was not only producing modified firearms but also narcotics-laced snacks, specifically chin chin. Items recovered included eight refill cartridges, six expend cartridges, gunpowder, a cut drill machine, assorted saws, two machetes, and packets of Indian hemp.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Marsodi confessed to producing narcotics-laced chin chin and engaging in illegal firearm modifications. The Commissioner of Police, Baba Moham Azar, reaffirmed the command's commitment to dismantling and prosecuting individuals involved in illegal arms manufacturing and drug distribution that threaten public safety.
