Kano Journalist Arrested Over Alleged Defamation Petition by Gov's Aide

The Nigeria Police Force arrested Kano-based journalist Ibrahim Ishaq Dan Uwa Rano after a petition was filed by Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo, the Director-General of Protocol for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The arrest, which took place at the Kano Metropolitan Police Headquarters, was related to alleged defamation on Dan Uwa TV Show, an online television station operated by Rano.

Rogo accused the journalist of indirectly referring to him in a bribery scandal involving granting visitors access to the governor. The police confirmed the arrest and stated that the journalist would be thoroughly investigated before facing any charges in court.
