Nigerian Arrested in Thailand Cocaine Trafficking Bust

In a significant drug bust in Bangkok, Thailand, police arrested four suspects linked to a cocaine trafficking network operating in the city's nightlife district. The primary suspect, Nigerian national Nwaiwu Ifeanyi Placid, aged 46, is described as an alleged kingpin of the syndicate.

He was apprehended near Silom Soi 1, where police tracked his movements and recovered 27 grams of cocaine. The other three suspects include Swiss national Thoma Giubibini and two Thai citizens, Thanayot Asawamethi, 35, and Nattawat Wangkitjinda, 34, who were also arrested during the operation.

In total, 30 grams of cocaine were seized, along with a vehicle, 65 million Thai currency, foreign currency worth $630,000, and jewelry valued at 17 million. This operation followed an earlier raid on October 26, which resulted in the arrest of nine Nigerian suspects linked to a broader drug network.

The police had been investigating the network, which allegedly operated through encrypted chat groups to coordinate drug sales.
