Nigerian Police Arrest Seven Suspects Over Deadly Attack on Oyo Forest Rangers

The Nigerian Police Command in Oyo State has apprehended seven suspects in connection with a fatal attack on Oyo Forest Rangers at Old Oyo National Park. The incident, which occurred in the Oloka area of the Orire Local Government Area on January 6, claimed five lives and left the state in shock.

Police spokesperson SP Olugbenga Fadeyi disclosed that the arrests marked a significant breakthrough in the case. Investigations revealed that the assault was motivated by unknown reasons.

Among the arrested individuals, police identified a ringleader and detained several members of the gang. The suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, detailing how a 10-man team on five motorcycles executed the assault.

The police operation led to the initial arrest of three suspects, followed by the apprehension of four additional individuals. The authorities continue to gather intelligence to track down the remaining gang members.

The police command emphasized its commitment to public safety and warned against the spread of false information that could incite panic.
