Oyo Police Arrest Seven Suspects Over Murder of Park Officials

The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended seven individuals linked to the killing of five park officials in the Old Oyo National Park in the Oloka area of the Orire Local Government Area. The attack occurred on January 6, 2026, when armed bandits invaded the park, resulting in the tragic deaths of the officials.

The arrested suspects include alleged masterminds and members of a ten-man armed bandit group. Following intensive intelligence-led operations, the police identified and arrested the suspects, who confessed to their involvement in the crime.

The police have vowed to continue efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the gang. The State Police Command commended the support received from Governor Seyi Makinde and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun in enhancing security measures in the state.
