Anambra Police Arrest Chima Ofoeke for Murder of Umeorini

The Anambra State Police Command arrested Chima Ofoeke for the suspected murder of 23-year-old Mmesoma Umeorini in Uga, Aguata Local Government Area. The arrest followed a report from Umeorini's mother, who stated her daughter had been missing since October 16, 2026.

Police operatives, aided by the Agunechemba security outfit, apprehended Ofoeke, identified as Umeorini's former boyfriend. During preliminary interrogation, Ofoeke allegedly confessed to killing Umeorini after their relationship ended, leading detectives to the location where her remains were found.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrest, stating that Ofoeke admitted to killing Umeorini in his house and disposing of her body in a bag. A video surfaced online where Ofoeke claimed the victim ended their relationship, and a local resident expressed sorrow over the incident, emphasizing that a breakup should not lead to violence.
