Osun Police Arrest Cult Members, Seize Weapons in Ede

The Osun State Police Command arrested two suspected cult members in Ede North, recovering a locally made gun, a yellow battle axe, and suspected charms. The arrests followed a distress call on October 19 reporting an attack by suspected cultists.

Upon arrival, police operatives were ambushed but managed to repel the attackers and arrest one suspect, who sustained a minor gunshot injury. The arrested suspect confessed to being a member of the Aye cult group.

A subsequent search led to the arrest of another suspect, who confessed to being part of the Eiye Confraternity. In a separate operation in Osogbo, 14 suspects were arrested during raids on identified criminal hideouts, with preliminary findings linking them to extortion, thuggery, and drug-related activities.

The suspects have been charged to court, and the police reiterated their commitment to combating cultism and violent crimes in the state.
