Nigerian Police Crack Down on Defiant Officers Serving VIPs, Establish Special Task Force

The Nigerian Police Force has initiated a crackdown on officers still providing security to unauthorized VIPs, following directives from President Bola Tinubu. A special task force has been deployed across key locations in Lagos to confirm compliance with the withdrawal of police escorts.

The operation, which began on December 6, aims to reassign officers to core policing duties and strengthen public safety. Despite no arrests during the checks, the move has stirred uncertainty among high-profile individuals reliant on police protection.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is overseeing the nationwide enforcement effort to restore discipline within the force.
