Nigerian Police Force Orders Immediate Arrest of Officers Escorting VIPs Outside Official Duties

The Nigerian Police Force has issued a nationwide directive for the immediate arrest of officers found providing security to VIPs outside their official duties. This move, in line with recent confidential presidential instructions, aims to enforce strict compliance with VIP security protocols.

The directive, sent by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, emphasizes the urgency of implementing new policies. The order also restricts the activities of special police units involved in VIP protection and counter-terrorism.

This action follows a high-level security meeting in Abuja attended by top officials, including military and police chiefs.
