Borno Police Heighten Security Amid Protest Rumors

The Borno State Police Command has raised an alarm regarding unverified reports circulating on social media about a potential protest in the state. In a statement released early Friday, ASP Nahum Daso assured that the command is vigilant and has implemented necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of residents.

Although there are no confirmed plans for a protest, the command is aware of the information circulating on various social media platforms. Daso urged the public to disregard unverified information and to remain law-abiding.

Additionally, IGP Olatunji Disu has ordered state police commands to be on red alert to prevent any escalation of internal security challenges in the country, particularly in light of recent tensions related to the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) and the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This directive aims to enhance surveillance and collaboration with traditional religious leaders and increase police visibility around worship centers and public spaces.
