Borno Governor Alerts Residents of Suspected Bombers in Maiduguri

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has warned residents of Maiduguri about the presence of two suspected suicide bombers in the city, urging caution ahead of Eid prayers. This warning was made during an interview with BBC Hausa Service, where Zulum highlighted intelligence reports indicating a potential attack.

He emphasized the need for vigilance, especially following recent deadly explosions in Maiduguri that resulted in at least 20 deaths and over 100 injuries. The governor's comments come in light of the increased pressure on insurgents, who may seek softer targets to create panic.

Zulum expressed confidence in the security agencies' efforts to control the situation and prevent any breaches during the festive period. He also condemned the recent attacks, describing them as cruel acts against innocent civilians during Ramadan, and reassured families affected by the violence of continued government support.

Residents were advised to report any suspicious activities to security agencies as measures are intensified around mosques and major gathering points.
