Kogi Police Deny Kidnapping Reports Along Kabba-Oken Road

On June 17, the Kogi State Police Command addressed and dismissed reports circulating on social media regarding a kidnapping incident along Kabba-Oken Road. Police spokesperson Oyiza Salisu clarified that the claims were false and misleading.

The incident involved a commercial bus driven by an individual from Kabba, who was traveling to Ibiloh to load cocoyam. The driver noticed unusual lights ahead and attempted a U-turn, leading to the discovery of an abandoned vehicle near a military checkpoint.

Salisu confirmed that there were no passengers on board at the time and that the situation was not criminal in nature. The vehicle had developed an electrical fault, which contributed to the circumstances.

The police emphasized that there were no casualties and that the matter was handled at the military checkpoint, with no formal report made to the police. The claims of armed bandit attacks and passenger abductions were described as inaccurate.
