Nigeria Police Dismiss UTME Threat Rumors, Ensure Safety

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the deployment of rapid response teams across examination centers nationwide ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which is set to take place from April 16 to April 25, 2026. In a statement issued on Tuesday by the police public relations officer, Anthony Placid, the force dismissed recent unfounded rumors regarding threats to candidate safety at examination centers, particularly in the North Central States.

The police emphasized that these claims lack basis and reassured the public of their commitment to ensuring a secure environment for candidates. Proactive measures have been taken, including extra security deployments and routine patrols at examination centers.

The police urged candidates and the general public to comply with examination guidelines and report any suspicious activities to security personnel. The Nigeria Police Force is collaborating closely with sister security agencies to monitor and address potential threats to the examination process.
