Police and EFCC Rescue 14 Kidnapped Victims in Akwa Ibom

On a Tuesday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), successfully rescued 14 individuals who had been kidnapped by sea pirates along the Calabar-Oron waterways. The operation was executed following sustained intelligence-driven efforts and robust inter-agency collaboration.

DSP Timfon John, a spokesperson for the command, disclosed that the victims are currently undergoing medical evaluation and treatment, alongside necessary debriefing and reunification with their families. The operation was noted for its efficiency, with CP Baba Mohammed Azar commending the professional synergy demonstrated by personnel from both agencies.

The police have intensified surveillance and launched targeted operations across identified flashpoints to enhance security along the waterways, urging residents to continue providing credible information to assist in their efforts.
