Akwa Ibom Police Arrest Armed Robber with Firearms

The Akwa Ibom Police Command arrested a suspected armed robber identified as Inimfon, recovering two locally made pistols and two machetes from his residence in Ibiono Ibom local government area. The arrest occurred after a distress call on September 14, 2026, when Inimfon allegedly attacked Inspector Henry while attempting to steal his bicycle at Ikot Ekweng village.

During the encounter, Inimfon reportedly wielded a machete, injuring the inspector's right hand before fleeing. Following the attack, police operatives were dispatched to the community and subsequently launched a manhunt for the suspect.

They traced him to his home, where the weapons were found. The police have initiated an investigation to determine the source of the firearms and to explore any connections between Inimfon and other criminal activities in the area.

CP Baba Mohammed Azare commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism in handling the situation.
