Lagos Police Disburses ₦89.2m to Families of Fallen Officers

On September 19, 2026, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, presented cheques totaling ₦89.2 million to the families of 157 deceased officers at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja. These payments are part of the welfare and insurance schemes of the Nigeria Police Force, aimed at providing financial support to the families of officers who lost their lives in service.

CP Fatai expressed that while the financial assistance could not replace the lives of the deceased, it reflects the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the welfare of both serving personnel and the families of fallen officers. He urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, particularly for the education and welfare of the children and dependents left behind.

Fatai assured that the welfare of officers and their families remains a priority, and the Command will continue to facilitate the prompt processing of legitimate claims.
