Police Arrest 21 Suspects Over Illegal Mining in Zamfara State

The Zamfara State Police Command, in collaboration with personnel from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, conducted a successful operation against illegal mining activities in Zamfara State. The operation led to the arrest of 21 suspects at various illegal mining sites, including Boko Village in Zurmi Local Government Area and Kaya Village in Maradun Local Government Area.

The ongoing investigation aims to uncover further details. Illegal mining activities have been linked to criminal activities in the state, particularly in areas like Maru, Anka, Tsafe, Bukkuyum, Zurmi, Bungudu, Talata Mafara, Shinkafi, and other regions.

The recent lifting of a five-year ban on mining in the state is expected to improve security and regulate mining activities to benefit the nation.
