NSCDC Officers Questioned Over Bayelsa Resident's Death Amid Allegations of Torture

The Bayelsa State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the death of Patrick Peresoudei, who reportedly died on January 30 following injuries sustained during an alleged unlawful detention. Peresoudei, a traditional worshipper, was said to have been challenged by Bodma Kemepadei on social media, leading to his arrest and subsequent death under suspicious circumstances.

Martin Ots, a social media influencer, has amplified calls for justice in the case. Four NSCDC personnel are being interrogated for their alleged involvement in accompanying Kemepadei during Peresoudei's arrest and subsequent torture.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) is leading the investigation, promising a thorough and impartial inquiry with a commitment to prosecute any individuals found culpable. The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah Daniel, has urged the public to support the investigation and provide any relevant information to assist in resolving the case.
