Police Arrest Two Drug Dealers in Akwa Ibom Raid

On September 9, 2026, at approximately 1:30 AM, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command executed a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Idu Uruan Village, located in the Uruan Local Government Area. This operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals, Fortune Effiong (male) and Comfort Effiong (female), who are suspected drug dealers.

The police recovered substantial quantities of substances believed to be Indian hemp and Cannabis sativa, which were intended for distribution and consumption. The raid was conducted following credible intelligence regarding criminal activities in the area and is part of the command's zero-tolerance approach to organized crime.

The operation was overseen by the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, who praised the officers for their professionalism and directed a full investigation into the illicit trade.
