Over 400,000 Apply for Police Recruitment as Deadline Extended

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has extended the deadline for the recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks due to the overwhelming response of over 400,000 applications received. The recruitment portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now remain open until February 8, 2026.

The decision to extend the deadline was made to address the uneven participation across states, with Adamawa, Benue, Kaduna, Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra recording high numbers of applications. The PSC aims to ensure fair and equitable representation of all states in the recruitment process, especially those with lower application figures.

The recruitment exercise will be conducted transparently, merit-based, and free from corruption, in line with the mandate to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force.
