Adamawa Tops Nigeria Police Recruitment with 616,873 Applications

Adamawa State has recorded the highest number of applications for police recruitment in Nigeria, with a total of 616,873 applications received nationwide. The Police Service Commission (PSC) reported that out of these, 434,604 applications qualify for further screening, while 121,596 are unqualified and 60,673 submissions are invalid.

The gender distribution shows 442,592 male applicants and 114,640 female applicants. Adamawa leads with 38,989 applications, followed by Benue with 34,511, Kaduna with 30,397, and Borno with 24,009.

In contrast, states like Ebonyi, Anambra, Bayelsa, and Lagos recorded low turnout, with Ebonyi having only 1,667 applications. PSC Chairman Taiwo Lakanu noted the wide disparities in state participation and announced a two-week extension to encourage more applications.

The next phase of the recruitment process, including physical screening and drug tests, is set to commence on March 9, 2026. The application portal opened on December 15, 2025, and was initially scheduled to close on January 25, 2026, but has been extended to February 8, 2026.
