Benue Police Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims from Forest

On September 18, 2026, the Benue State Command, led by Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu, successfully rescued nine passengers who had been kidnapped along the Ankpenchi-Ogobia road in Ohimini Local Government Area. The incident occurred on September 13, 2026, when armed men intercepted a commercial bus at approximately 11 pm, abducting 13 passengers.

Following the abduction, police operatives initiated coordinated rescue efforts, initially rescuing four victims. On September 18, at around 6:30 am, the Violent Crime Response Unit and other tactical teams, acting on credible intelligence, stormed the kidnappers' camp in Amla Forest.

This operation resulted in an exchange of gunfire, leading to the successful rescue of eight victims. Unfortunately, one victim succumbed to injuries sustained during the kidnapping.

The rescued individuals are currently safe and receiving necessary care, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining kidnappers and recover the deceased's body.
