OPWS Rescues Seven Kidnapped Victims in Benue

On Monday, seven kidnapped victims were rescued in Benue during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Headquarters Joint Task Force of OPWS. The operation took place around Amla-Icho, Ogobia in Otukpo LGA, and Anpekchi communities in Ohimini LGA.

Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, the Acting Media Information Officer, stated that the operation was initiated following credible intelligence regarding the activities of suspected kidnappers in the area. Troops, alongside personnel from the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes, searched the identified locations, leading to the apprehension of suspects.

Upon sighting the advancing troops, the kidnappers fled, abandoning their victims. The rescued individuals were secured and removed from danger, while a vehicle linked to the criminal activity was recovered and handed over to the police for further investigation.

Zubairu commended the troops for their swift response and acknowledged the collaboration with the police and local vigilantes, urging residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies.
