Oyo Police Rescue Baby Sold for N2 Million by Mother

The Oyo State Police Command rescued a one-month-old baby girl who was allegedly sold by her mother for N2 million to an individual named Folawewo in Ido Local Government Area. Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, reported that the incident was brought to light when Mary Amos reported her daughter missing along with the baby on Thursday at about 6pm.
The daughter had given birth on September 6 at Ebepraise Health Centre and disappeared with the baby a week later. During police interrogation, the mother confessed that the health facility owner and an individual named Oludunni had facilitated the sale.
Investigations revealed that the mother received N1 million, while the health facility owner and Oludunni each received N500,000. The baby girl has been rescued, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the buyer and others involved in the case.
The police reiterated their commitment to protecting children and urged the public to report suspected child trafficking cases.
