Oyo Police Arrest Officer's Son for Alleged Rape of Minor

The Oyo State Police Command arrested a 19-year-old man named Bayo, the son of a serving police officer, for the alleged rape of a five-year-old girl in Oyo town. Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the arrest and stated that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The victim's father, Afeez Tiamiyu, reported that the incident occurred while his daughter was on her way to buy a recharge card. Upon learning of the incident from his wife, Tiamiyu rushed home and found traces of semen and bruises on his daughter.
The girl identified Bayo as the assailant, leading to his arrest at the Police Area Command, Durbar, Oyo. Tiamiyu alleged that some police officers attempted to persuade the family to abandon the case due to Bayo's father's position in the police force.
The family insisted on pursuing the case and involved human rights groups for support.
