Adamawa State Police Warn Citizens Against Assaulting Officers, Emphasize Legal Consequences

The Adamawa State Police Command, through SP Suleiman Nguroje, issued a warning to citizens against assaulting police officers. Nguroje urged the public to report cases of police misconduct rather than resorting to physical confrontations.

He highlighted that fighting police officers could lead to individuals facing multiple criminal charges, even if they are believed to be innocent. The statement emphasized that physically resisting law enforcement agents could result in serious legal consequences, including arrest and imprisonment.

Nguroje also outlined the penalties under the Criminal Code Act and the Police Act of 2020 for obstructing, resisting, or assaulting public officers. The police spokesperson advised residents to report any police misconduct to the appropriate channels rather than taking matters into their own hands.

The warning underscored the importance of cooperation with law enforcement officials in the discharge of their duties to maintain public safety and order.
