Katsina to Immunize 3 Million Children Against Polio

Katsina State is set to immunize 3 million children against polio during a campaign scheduled from March 28 to 31, 2026. Dr.

Shamsudeen Yahaya, the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Agency, disclosed this information during a discussion with journalists and social media influencers. The immunization exercise will be conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) as part of a broader strategy to improve routine immunization coverage across the state.

The campaign will specifically target children aged zero to five years, with a special focus on infants aged zero to nine months who are particularly vulnerable to polio disease. Dr.

Yahaya assured that no child would be missed during the campaign, as trained health workers will conduct house-to-house visits and cover schools, markets, and border communities, including hard-to-reach areas. He urged parents and caregivers to fully cooperate with the vaccination teams, highlighting that the services will be provided free of charge.
