Poor Leadership Deepens Divisions Among Nigerians – Baba-Ahmed

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the chairman of the People's Redemption Party (PRP), expressed concerns regarding the growing divisions among Nigerians, attributing this situation to poor leadership. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, he stated that politicians exploit ethnic and religious differences to gain political advantage and retain power.

Baba-Ahmed, a former aide to President Bola Tinubu, noted that this exploitation has created an atmosphere of distrust, weakening national unity and diverting attention from pressing issues such as insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and declining public services. He argued that the challenges facing the country stem largely from a failure of leadership rather than differences among citizens.

Baba-Ahmed called for a renewed commitment to national unity and urged leaders to stop exploiting identities for political gain, instead focusing on policies that improve the lives of ordinary citizens and strengthen institutions to reduce tensions and foster cohesion.
