Veteran Gospel Singer Toun Soetan Passes Away at 73

Toun Soetan, a veteran Nigerian gospel singer, has died at the age of 73, with her death confirmed on Friday by gospel comedian Woli Agba through a social media post. Soetan was described as a legendary figure in Nigeria's gospel music community, and tributes have poured in from various gospel artists, including Peter Olaniyi and Bukola Omoway, who recognized her as an inspiring mentor.

Born into a Muslim family, Soetan converted to Christianity in 1974 and dedicated herself to ministry, attending revival services at Oritamefa Baptist Church. She worked as a teacher for 16 years at Oritamefa Baptist School and later became the co-proprietress of Pathfind College, which she founded with her husband, Titu Soetan.

Over her four-decade career, she became widely recognized for her spiritually inspiring songs and her role in training gospel musicians. Soetan is survived by her husband and family members, who have been influenced by her music ministry.
