Katsina Hosts Diplomats for 2026 Durbar Festival

Katsina State is actively positioning itself as a cultural tourism hub, drawing international attention to its rich heritage. This was underscored by the recent arrival of 17 foreign diplomats for the 2026 Durbar festival, a traditional event that showcases the region's cultural significance.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda welcomed the diplomats at the Umaru Musa Yar'Adua International Airport, alongside Deputy Faruk Lawal Jobe. The delegation included representatives from Belgium, Egypt, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Argentina, and Congo, as well as senior figures from the United Nations.

The Durbar festival, which features vibrant displays of horsemanship and royal pageantry, serves as a platform for cultural diplomacy and aims to enhance Katsina's image on a global scale. The event reflects the state's enduring values of peace and unity, with the participation of various international envoys signaling a shift in perception of cultural festivals, now recognized as viable platforms for dialogue and partnership.
