Minister Tegbe Advocates Shared Accountability in Power Sector

Joseph Tegbe, the Minister of Power, outlined an action plan aimed at stabilizing Nigeria's electricity sector during a quarterly meeting of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) stakeholders held at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in Abuja. The forum, chaired by NERC Chairman Musiliu Oseni, included various power sector stakeholders such as operators and regulatory bodies.

Tegbe emphasized that Nigeria's electricity crisis cannot be resolved by individual efforts alone and called for shared accountability across the entire value chain. He identified critical issues such as vandalism, sabotage, and energy theft as significant challenges facing the sector.

Tegbe described power assets as national assets that require formal protection and urged stakeholders to accept shared responsibility in addressing the depth of the problems. He also pointed out the need for improved infrastructure to enhance grid reliability and optimize output.
