Anambra State Partners with Shell to Shift to Gas Power

The Anambra State Government, in partnership with Shell Energy Nigeria, is initiating a transition from diesel to gas as a primary energy source to ensure stable power supply and drive industrialization in the state. This announcement was made by Prof.

Solo Chukwulobelu, the Secretary to the State Government, during the Anambra Energy Stakeholder Forum held in Awka on Thursday. The plan to adopt gas as a major energy source began two years ago and aligns with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo's administration to transform the state into a consumption-driven economy.

Mr. Chiamaka Nnake, a representative of the state government, emphasized the groundwork laid for industrial growth and infrastructure investment.

The shift to gas is expected to help investors reduce operational costs and enhance productivity, thereby supporting the state's economic development. Mr.

Ralph Gbobo, Managing Director of Shell Energy Nigeria, stated that the company is developing strategies to assist industrialists in this transition, which aims to stabilize energy supply and lower operational costs.
