Pregnant Woman Among 11 Dead in Benue Boat Capsize

On Saturday evening, a tragic boat mishap occurred in Benue, resulting in the deaths of a pregnant woman and ten other individuals. The incident took place between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. as the victims were crossing the river from Daududawada to Wadata during heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Nura Umar, a local source, reported that the deceased included six children and four adults. The victims were traveling on a boat carrying 40 passengers when it capsized mid-journey.

As of the time of the report, four bodies had been recovered, while divers and local volunteers continued to search for the remaining seven missing individuals. Among the survivors, a woman lost her baby during the incident while struggling to stay afloat.

The community is in mourning, and efforts to confirm further details were ongoing, with local police not responding to inquiries at that time.
