Presidency Launches Skills Training to Combat Insecurity

The Presidency announced an expansion of its skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training programs as a strategy to combat crime and insecurity in Nigeria. Dr Abiola Arogundade, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, made this announcement following discussions with Maj.-Gen. Adeyinka Famadewa, the Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security, at the State House in Abuja.
The initiative aims to provide economic opportunities for young Nigerians and reduce their susceptibility to recruitment by criminal networks. Arogundade emphasized the importance of empowering individuals through skills development and creating sustainable opportunities to foster a safer society.
The collaboration between the two offices is intended to address the socioeconomic factors contributing to insecurity. Famadewa highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach that integrates military and law enforcement efforts with education and economic inclusion.
The Safe Nigeria Initiative, launched on February 3, targets at least 11,000 vulnerable youths across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
