NARD and Government Resolve Grievances to Avert Strike

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) announced on Tuesday that significant grievances with the Federal Government were largely resolved following a meeting at the State House in Abuja, convened by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila. NARD President Dr.

Mohamed Usman Suleiman stated that agreements were reached on critical issues such as salary and promotion arrears, call duty allowances, recruitment of house officers, and enhanced workplace safety for health workers. The meeting included officials from the Ministries of Labour, Health, and Finance, as well as representatives from various government agencies.

A one-week timeline was established for the payment of salary and promotion arrears, with additional provisions for the timely payment of house officer salaries. The meeting also addressed the Collective Bargaining Agreement, with directives to expedite its completion for incorporation into the 2027 budget.

Furthermore, the Federal Ministry of Health will issue directives to improve security and safety for healthcare workers amid rising attacks.
