Tinubu Addresses Plateau Violence Victims at Airport

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited victims of violence in Plateau State at Yakubu Gowon Airport instead of the attack site due to logistical constraints, including flight restrictions and lack of navigational aids for night flights. The visit followed a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba District that killed at least 28 people.

Tinubu's engagement included consoling victims and community leaders, addressing the recurring violence in the state. He announced several measures, including the deployment of 5,000 AI-enabled security cameras and an additional 850 troops from the Nigerian Army to enhance security operations.

However, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticized the visit as insensitive, claiming it did not fully reflect the tragedy's scale. Atiku's statement, issued by his aide Phrank Shaibu, described the visit as hurried and aimed at allowing Tinubu to proceed to Lagos for the Easter holiday, calling the decision deeply troubling given the national grief.
