Presidency Spends N37.6 Billion on Foreign Trips

The Presidency's expenditures on foreign trips, logistics, foreign exchange, and other travel-related costs amounted to N37.64 billion between June 2023 and April 2026, according to an analysis by GovSpend, a platform created by BudgIT. President Bola Tinubu commenced a three-week annual vacation in Europe, with London as his first stop.

Since taking office on May 29, 2023, President Tinubu has spent approximately 261 days outside Nigeria, visiting at least 30 countries through 51 foreign trips. The spending breakdown includes N9.18 billion in the latter half of 2023, N25.26 billion in 2024, N2.7 billion in 2025, and N477.4 million from January to April 2026, with the highest spending in 2024 attributed to foreign exchange allocations and funding for the Presidential Air Fleet.

Additionally, $553,884 (valued at N700.7 million) was allocated for overseas trips involving First Lady Oluremi Tinubu between 2023 and 2024, prompting Transparency and Accountability Group President Ayo Ologun to question the legal basis for such expenditures.
