Nigeria to Host 2026 CAF Awards, Tinubu Approves

President Bola Tinubu has officially approved Nigeria's proposal to host the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards in October 2026. This decision was announced following a meeting during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed this development in a statement released on Tuesday. The meeting included notable figures such as CAF President Patrice Motsepe, Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, former NFF President Amaju Pinnick, and CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.

The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is expected to gather representatives from CAF's 54 member associations across six zonal unions, highlighting Nigeria's significant role in African football administration.
